Who I Am: The Professional Prophecy

As it was once phrased by the great American actor Johnny Depp, “My body is a journal in a way. It's like what sailors used to do, where every tattoo meant something, a specific time in your life when you make a mark on yourself, whether you do it yourself with a knife or with a professional tattoo artist.” For me, my mind, body, and soul are a complete prose of all my life experiences. Every day I am consistently adding to the legacy I will leave for my family, friends, colleagues, nah- Sayers, supporters, rejecters, and whomever else comes across the story of me.
I have always known that my life would be something great, something to be proud of, something different all the same. From the very beginning I have faced devastating challenges, negative input from family, and harassment from peers. All of which I have maintained my own true essence, and stayed the course I foresaw for myself.
I can recall hearing the quoted words of Sylvia Plath, Maya Angelou, Nikki Giovanni and Angela Davis. Words of wisdom from wise women, who have achieved such greatness in their lives, words I devoted and structured my goals around. I can recall Maya Angelou and I can say that I to know why the caged bird sings. I can relate to the Ego trip of Nikki Giovanni and I understand Sylvia’s pleas not be an enemy to my own creativity. I hold Angela’s ideology of liberating the mind to be a free thinker.
These sayings are something that I carried with me for pretty much my entire personal and professional life. See, I have always had a strong passion for the idea of being more free and liberal with my creativity. As I moved forward from those early days of my development, my passion for it has always stayed with me and became stronger.
With the teachings of these women and many others like them, I have strived towards excellence. I carried the teachings of these innovators with me as I underwent my undergraduate studies at Alverno College, where I studied English and Psychology.  Throughout my education at Alverno, I have become exceptionally proficient in the eight abilities I noticed that are central in most any endeavor. I worked during that time towards perfecting my understanding and performance of demonstrating my capacity for these specific skills. I am proud to acknowledge the fact that I have become an effective communicator and listener, capable in making sound decisions, take a more analytical approach to studying a problem and seeking out a plausible solution. I also became more successful in working with others, acting with global consciousness, and being creative in my approaches, while still maintaining my connection towards being an ally to the community.
I have become more like the very women that have been my mentors in life from a very early age. And now that I embark on the next phase, I plan to share my insights, creative, intellect, global awareness, along with many other facets of myself.
In May of 2011, I was granted my Bachelor of Arts degree with a central focus in Psychology, English and Elective Studies. I have since entered into the work force and I have determined that I will further my education and obtain my M.B.A focused in Human Resource Management. I am not sure where I will be in the next five to ten years, but I do know that where ever I am I will be doing something AMAZING!
